Hong Kong Hotels - 3 Destinations
Hong Kong is located in East Asia, just south of the Tropic of Cancer. This tax-free, bustling port and commercial centre comprises Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, the New Territories and the many outlying Islands, few of which are inhabited and provide a tranquil alternative to its frenetic energy elsewhere. It is a popular tourist destination and one of the world's major business centres.
The first thing anyone notices when visiting Hong Kong is the city's setting. Situated on the fragrant harbor that separates the island of Hong Kong from Kowloon Peninsula, the city's buildings rise to great heights that are only dwarfed by the mountains behind them. It is a breathtaking scene to look at the city from a boat on the harbor or to ride to the top of the mountain on a tram. Visually stunning, Hong Kong offers a warp-speed ‘shop till you drop' lifestyle combined with enclaves of tradition.
Hong Kong is an eclectic mix of modern skyscrapers, colonial buildings and traditional temples. The best thing about being in Hong Kong is getting flummoxed and fired by the confluences and contradictions of a Chinese city with Chinese and Western elements. Remnants of its colonial past and the British culture and values, share space with the Chinese tradition. It's amazing to notice the eastern Confucian temples edging against the western style churches. The traditional Chinese festivals such as the Spring Festival and Moon Festival are celebrated along with Christmas. Chinese opera and Canto-pop Music lead a peaceful coexistence. It is both modern and ancient, quiet and busy, urban and green.
It's also efficient, hushed and peaceful: the transport network is excellent, the shopping centres are sublime, the cuisine is legendary and the temples and quiet corners of parks are contemplative sanctuaries. Much of the countryside is classified as Country Park and, although millions of people are never far away, it is possible to find pockets of wilderness that will reward the more intrepid tourist.
Hong Kong's rich cultural background has resulted in a city unlike any other in the word; Welcome to Hong Kong, the brightest pearl in the East!

"One major problem is the language barrier in as much that the front desk staff have very little knowledge of english. Despite this, over-all we find the hotel room and the facilities to be acceptable for me and my husband. The hotel is close to the MTR station and is within a major commercial shopping district. Its higly recommendable if not for the hotel personnel. The room is clean and the basic amnenities are made available for the guests. We had a very good view of the Pudong business district. The lobby looks a bit shabby. They could have made it more inviting."
