TRAVEL GUIDE

Hue is a great destination for those travellers who enjoy historical sites. As the former capital of the emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty, Hue has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Site. With diversified and beautiful landscapes, Hue possesses a unique and harmoniously beauty. It is widely known for the magnificent architecture of its citadels, palaces, royal tombs, pagodas and temples and dominated by its massive ancient citadel, imperial palace and the former Forbidden Purple City.

Set in a poetic background of greenery on the banks of the Perfume River, it's a small, peaceful city, full of lakes, canals and lush vegetation. Unlike Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and most other Vietnamese cities, Hue somehow seems to have stood aside from the current economic frenzy and, despite its calamitous history, has retained a unique cultural identity. Hue still retains much of its past glory in daily routines and activities in religion, gastronomy, handicraft, music, the performing arts and traditional festivals. The city is also noted for the quality of its embroidery, particularly on the traditional ao dai. Hue is also an important centre of Buddhism. In Hue and its surrounding area exist pagodas constructed more 300 years ago and hundreds of temples and pagodas built in the early 20th century.  All are laid out in harmony with nature and in accordance with the principles of geomancy (feng shui). The Perfume River lies between the city and the remains of the mighty Citadel with many attractions along its banks.

The countryside around Hue is stunning and made all the more magical for the sights you will encounter. Sampan boat trips on the river offer an enchanting way to see the main attractions in and around Hue, including the splendid tombs of the Nguyen emperors a few miles south of the city. While the Imperial city is a fantastic place to explore, your visit to Hue would not be complete if you fail to explore the huge array of tombs, temples and ruins in the countryside. The best way is to hop on the back of a motorbike and let the driver take you to their favourite sights. You can also spend a beautiful day taking a boat trip up the river, and while it is possible to see several monuments and pagodas from the water's side, join a motorbike driver for a more insightful take of the scenery. Finally, along with its historical sights, Hue is also the main starting point for day tours to the Demilitarised Zone, an area spanning both sides of the former border between North and South Vietnam, including the Vinh Moc underground tunnels; an extremely popular attraction.

 Hotel Reviews
Dubai Admiral Plaza Hotel
Dubai Hotels

"Good for the money, stayed for one night, and found the hotel reception staff not so friendly, as they wanted to just get you to your room, facilities OK, didnt use many, had breakfast but not really worth the money.  Rooms are small, I dont think i will be returning".

Samui Sarann Hotel
Koh Samui Hotels

I really enjoyed my stay here and after another trip to Koh Tao we returned to this hotel for another week. The staff are friendly and the bathrooms are enormous. The gym could be better but that||s my only complaint. It||s also a tad far from the local town of Chewang Beach but they offer a shuttle service in twice every day which allows for this. They also pick you up and drop you off at the airport for free. We stayed at a few hotels in Koh Samui and this one was definitely the best.

Fukuoka Okura Hotel

"Rooms were clean and comfortable and is beautiful. The bathroom was comfortable promoting. There is good atmosphere and interior. I felt smaller than I expected".
