TRAVEL GUIDE
Queensland comprises a quarter of Australia's mainland and is packed with natural attractions. It epitomises those Australian clichés: beaches, barbecues, wilderness, endless sunshine, cold beer - in short, a tropical paradise. Often called “the Sunshine State,” Queensland hosts five World Heritage listed preservation areas, including the Great Barrier Reef and the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves. It is also known for its laid-back vibe and miles and miles of golden beaches. This wonderfully diverse state is large, brash, understated and always delights in surprising visitors with its hedonistic-riches.
Queensland offers an abundance of diverse experiences to create lasting memories. From the fun of the Gold Coast to the adventure of the Cape, you will know you have found a special kind of paradise in Queensland.
On the South Coast, Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, is neighboured to the east by Australia's tourism capital, the Gold Coast with golden beaches and exciting nightlife. North is the natural beauty and more relaxed atmosphere of the Sunshine Coast. Further north on the East Coast, there are literally hundreds of Queensland islands where you can relax and indulge in all that island life has to offer, including the world famous Whitsunday Islands.
On the other side of the fence, we have The World Heritage listed rainforests of Tropical North Queensland. They are spectacular 'living museums', millions of years in the making. Breathtaking in their pristine grandeur; tranquil and unspoilt, offering spectacular scenery, deep gorges, numerous waterfalls and mountain summits providing expansive rainforest views. The tropical north is also home to the most famous attraction; the Great Barrier Reef - one of the world's great wonders. It is the largest and most complex expanse of living coral on earth and is home to a wide variety of colourful marine life: the perfect playground for an extraordinary range of recreational pursuits- an experience not to be missed.
Finally, the Queensland Outback is nature of a different kind, one that delivers Australia’s final frontier. Desert sand dunes and lush fishing holes make an interesting combination. Travel back to the dinosaur era, listen carefully for the ghost in the home of Waltzing Matilda or sit back and enjoy a cold beer in one of the iconic outback pubs.
The casual, relaxed atmosphere of Queensland is quite contagious. The welcome is as warm as the weather. Day and night, this place offers an intoxicating mix of adventure, discovery, relaxation and enjoyment; a multi-coloured, multifaceted region which has so much to see and do. Queensland offers something for everyone and is the ultimate Australian holiday destination.
